Top of the table face offs as Thistle and Hibs eye upsets

The battle for fourth place is firmly on with Hibs, Partick Thistle and Hearts all in the mix.

Rangers lead Celtic by six points at the top of the table as they prepare to come up against two of the top four hopefuls on Sunday.

Rangers are making the short trip to visit high-flying Partick Thistle with both teams on fine form.

Jo Potter's side are still unbeaten this season and currently sit top of the SWPL. They've also booked their spot in the Scottish Cup quarter-final and have a SWPL Cup final against Sunday's opponents to look forward to.

Thistle have been on the end of seven league defeats this term and have conceded 28 goals to Rangers' eight. They haven't lost a game since December - albeit that was a 6-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning champions Glasgow City.

Since then, Thistle have seen off full-time Hibs in the SWPL Cup to bag their spot in next month's final and have won their last six games on the bounce.

In the capital, Celtic and Hibs are facing off.

Fellow Edinburgh side Hearts have already taken points off the Glasgow outfit and since then Celtic have come under new management, been beaten by Rangers and Glasgow City and had a narrow win over bottom-half Motherwell.

Despite their disappointing SWPL Cup defeat to Partick Thistle, Hibs recently saw off Glasgow City in the Scottish Cup, taking the game to penalties where they edged out the league champions.

Taking a renewed confidence into Sunday, you've got to think Grant Scott's side will be thinking they can come out with a result.
