LET IT SNOW, GOOGLE: Falling for the newest Easter Egg search trick

Publish date: 2024-08-26

GOOGLE'S NEW SEARCH TRICK, like the proverbial snowflake, is like no other.

Starting today, you can type "let it snow" in the home page's search bar and — voila! — soon your screen is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, as a flurry of flakes drifts downward.

Then — to mix our metaphorical seasons — the digital “Easter egg” continues as the screen frosts over. Use your cursor as an ice scraper to draw in the “frosted glass” effect — or click on the search “Defrost” button.

This is perhaps the coolest Google search trick since "do a barrel roll," which produces a vintage video-game effect.

Although this isn't a "Google Doodle," who knows? If it proves popular enough, it might just end up as paraphernalia in the recently opened Google Store.

And for another current seasonal effect, type “Hanukkah” into the search bar.
